Welcome to the Library of Old Polish and Neo-Latin Literature (BLSN as an abbreviation from the Polish name).
The aim of the Library is to provide the public with access to a large collection of texts reflecting the culture of the former Polish Kingdom and the multiethnic Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (“the Commonwealth of the Both Nations” viz. Poland and Lithuania, but also contemporary Ukraine and Belarus).
Readers will find here modern digital editions of books created between the 15th and the 18th century, both in Polish and Latin language. BLSN is dedicted especially to the critical edition of the Latin Works of JAN KOCHANOWSKI. Our Library is to present reproductions of rare old prints and manuscripts, successively supplemented with transcriptions and digital comments and translation into Polish in the case of Latin texts. Most of the publications available on this website come from the collections of the Jagiellonian Library in Krakow, Poland. The Library of Old Polish and Neo-Latin Literature is owned by the Jagiellonian University. The editions presented here are prepared by a team of scholars from several Polish and foreign universities, who are all affiliated with the Renaissance Literature Laboratory of the Department of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University.
The use of the library is free of charge. Any materials located on the Library website are protected by copyright. Reproduction of any of the Library texts or scans is possible only for academic and educational purposes on the condition of provision of the exact source (website, edition author, comments, transcriptions, translations). Use for commercial purposes of scans, transcriptions, translations, comments and any other materials in the Library is possible following obtainment of permission from the Jagiellonian Library and the Authors.
